Nagpur: Maharashtra Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President, Chandrashekar Bawankule, on Wednesday, met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi.
Tweeting about the meet, the newly appointed Maharashtra BJP Chief wrote on Twitter “Had a courtesy call today on the Union Home and Cooperation Minister, Hon’ble Shri Amit Shah ji.”
Bawankule further continued “Received his guidance on strengthening the organization as well as on other important subjects” on the social media blogging site.
Notably, playing the Other Backward Classes (OBC) card keeping in sight the big battle ahead for 2024 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, the BJP, earlier this month, had appointed Bawankule, who belongs to the community, as the new party president in Maharashtra. In another important decision, Ashish Shelar, a Maratha by caste and a former state minister, replaced Mangal Prabhat Lodha as the Mumbai unit president.
The change of guard in Maharashtra BJP was necessitated following the induction of outgoing party president Chandrakant Patil in the Cabinet led by Eknath Shinde.
