Nagpur: Irked over regular spat with her husband, a woman reportedly hired killers to eliminate him in Kalamna area here, on Monday night. However, their attempt failed as the victim resisted the attempt and raised an alarm. During the investigation, cops found out Meenakshi’s (27) role behind murderous attempt on her husband Mahesh Wadhai (45). Cops have also nabbed accused assailants identified as Mahesh Tulsidas Gesham (27) and Rohit Vijay Gaoture (18), both residents of Kinha village in Bhandara District.
According to police sources, Wadhai along with his wife Meenakshi and two children live at Talmale layout under Kalamna Police Station. At around 10.30 pm, they all went to bed on Monday night. Later in the wee hours of Tuesday, someone held Wadhai’s head under the sheet and another hand stabbed him in the back with a sharp weapon. Wadhai somehow, tried to resist miscreants’ attempt and raised an alarm. Fearing of getting caught, the assailants then fled the spot. Following which, Wadhai was rushed to hospital and a complaint was lodged in this connection.
During the investigation, cops grew suspicious as to how two assailants gained entry inside the lock house without breaking any door. They also found behaviour of Meenakshi suspicious, as she didn’t try to stop assailants or caught hold of them. Meenakshi didn’t even sustain any sort of injuries in the incident. When cops interrogated her, she reportedly spilled the beans and confessed of giving Rs 40,000 supari to kill Wadhai.
Wadhai and Meenakshi were married six years ago. Meenakshi had eloped with another man from Umred three years ago. She later returned to Mahesh in April, this year. He took her back owing to his children. However, the duo often fights over the same issues. Irked over regular spat, she then decided to eliminate Mahesh.
