BJP MLA Khopde alleges huge scam in Transport Plaza work in Nagpur

Nagpur: The BJP’s East Nagpur MLA Krishna Khopde has accused the Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) of a major scam in the work of ‘Transport Plaza’ to be constructed at Jagnade Square in the city. He has attacked the NIT coming under the Urban Development Ministry held by the Chief Minister.

According to Khopde, there is an old plan to set up a ‘Transport Plaza’ at Jagnade Square in Nandanvan area on the border of East and Central Nagpur. For this, the Sant Jagnade Maharaj Smarak Samiti has offered a land measuring 8,000 square feet to NIT. However, MLA Khopde has directly complained to the NIT Chairman that the Transport Plaza has not been constructed at this place.

“Everyone wants this Transport Plaza to be built. But unfortunately it has not happened. It appears that there has been massive malpractice in this work. The Transport Plaza is nowhere to be seen in the map provided by the contractor and the sanctioned map. On the contrary, it is seen that some different construction has been done at the abovementioned place. The main Transport Plaza should be in the front space. But, it is in the back area where only a small office is visible. All this is going on in an irregular manner. There should be an immediate high-level inquiry into this transaction. The work of the contractor should be stopped immediately,” demanded MLA Krishna Khopde in a letter written to the Chairman of Nagpur Improvement Trust.

He further said that the correspondence with NIT’s Hanumannagar Zone was done repeatedly regarding this malpractice. Notices have been issued to the contractor. Despite the correspondence in this regard at many levels, the contractor continues to act arbitrarily. Officials of NIT are also involved in this, claimed Khopde in his letter.
