Nagpur: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has said that malaria and dengue cases are well under control this year. As per the NMC, two malaria cases and 57 dengue cases have been reported in Nagpur city from January 1 to October 17. This number is very less compared to last year.
Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Radhakrishnan B said that the NMC administration is creating public awareness in ten zones to prevent diseases like dengue and malaria. House to house survey is being conducted from time to time. Several steps are being taken to control the diseases. Apart from this, all the measures like putting medicines in the cooler regularly, releasing guppy fish are being implemented.
As a result, dengue and malaria patients are seen in Nagpur very less. However, citizens must keep their surroundings clean to stay safe from mosquito-borne diseases. All citizens need to take care of cleanliness. Citizens should observe a dry day once a week. If citizens have any kind of symptoms, they should go to their nearest municipal primary health centre and get a free test.
All these measures are being regularly implemented by Nagpur Municipal Corporation such as insecticide spraying, putting guppy fish in the stagnant water, entomological survey in areas where there is high density of mosquitoes, public awareness. However, citizens should not panic, if symptoms of malaria or dengue fever are detected, they should immediately contact their doctor and take medication.
Apart from this, Radhakrishnan B requested that if dengue patients are found through rapid test, private hospitals should immediately inform Nagpur Municipal Corporation and send them for examination and definite diagnosis as per government guidelines has to be done.
Citizens should be careful. They should dispose of scrap materials around the house or on the roof like tyres, coconut husks, empty cans, water tanks, buckets, coolers etc. Care should be taken that mosquitoes do not breed in the place. One day in a week should be observed as dry day. Children should wear clothes that cover their entire body. Shut all the coolers in the house and wipe the water tank clean and dry. The accumulated water in the surrounding area should be drained. Water containers, tanks, overhead tacks should be covered. In case of dengue-like fever, contact your doctor immediately and take medication on time, appealed the NMC.
