Nagpur: Taking note of the faculty shortage and lack of infrastructure, the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) has recently denied permission to Government Ayurved Colleges & Hospitals of Maharashtra State for admission in U.G. (BAMS) & P.G (M.D./M.S) courses for the academic session 2022-23. With this decision, 8000 Ayurveda graduate doctors in the state and well qualified students aspiring for BAMS admission are in for a shock.
Following denial of permission, Dr K. Rajeshwar Reddy, Director of AYUSH, Directorate of AYUSH, Government of Maharashtra, has sent a letter to Chairman of the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine appealing him to reconsider the denial of conditional permission to Government Ayurved Colleges & Hospitals of Maharashtra State for Admission in U.G. (BAMS) & P.G (M.D./M.S) courses under Sec. 28 of NCISM Act, 2020 & relevant regulations there under for the academic session 2022-23.
In his letter, Dr Reddy stated that the President Medical Assessment and Rating Board lndian System of Medicine vide letters dated 19.10.2022 cited at ref. 1 to 5 has conveyed denial of conditional permission for admission in U.G. (B.A.M.S.) and P.G (M.D./M.S.) courses to the following five Government Ayurved Colleges for academic session 2022-23. Government Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, Nagpur, Government Ayurved College, Nanded, Government Ayurved College, Osmanabad R.A.PodarAyurved Medical College, Worli, Mumbai, and Government Ayurved College & Hospital, Jalgaon (U.G.)
The reasons for the denial of conditional permission for admissions U.G. & P.G for academic session 2022-23 to above colleges are cited as availability of total teaching faculty after the submission of the college is deficit which is not fulfilling the minimum criteria of 90% as required in Scheduled V of MSR 2016. Availability of Total Higher Faculty after the submission of the college is deficit which is not fulfilling the minimum criteria of 80% as required in Scheduled V of MSR 2016. There is a deficiency of few beds against the minimum requirement as mentioned in regulation and also Animal house is not available as mentioned in the regulation 7 (3) of PG Regulation,availability of Non-Teaching staff is deficit, which is not fulfilling the Minimum criteria of 80% as required in Scheduled Vl of MSR 2016 and College Website is not updated as required in regulation.
The National Commission for lndian System of Medicine, Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India has pointed out the shortcomings regarding less availability of Teaching & Non-Teaching staff, animal house etc. in the Government Ayurved Colleges of Maharashtra State. in this regard, a Notarized Affidavit on Rs.100 stamp paper regarding fulfillment of shortcomings pointed out in above mentioned the Government Ayurved Colleges of Maharashtra was submitted on 07.10.2022.The above mentioned shortcomings shall be fulfilled by December 31, 2022.
The Director of AYUSH, Directorate of AYUSH, Government of Maharashtra requested the NCISM that in the interest of the academic benefit of meritorious students desirous to pursue UG (BAMS) and PG (MD/MS) courses in the State, reconsider the denial of conditional permission for admission in UG and PG course in aforesaid Govt Ayurved colleges in the academic year 2022’23. The aforesaid Government Ayurved colleges and hospitals in the State may kindly be granted conditional permission for admission in UG and PG course in academic year 2022-23, Dr Reddy urged in his letter.
