13-foot python gets new lease of life near Ramtek

Ramtek: On November 2, while harvesting paddy in Sunil Nagpure’s field at Dongri in Ramtek Taluka in Nagpur district, a 13-foot long python was found. Seeing such a huge snake in the farm, fear spread among the people working there. As the snake was indeed very big, a crowd of people who were working in the field and nearby farmers gathered in no time.

At this time, Sunil Nagpure without any hesitation immediately called the vice president of Ramtek Wild Challenger Organisation Sarp Mitra Va Prani Mitra. Sarp Mitras Rahul Kharkate and Akshay Ghodakale soon reached the site. They ensured the people stayed a safe distance away from the reptile and advised everyone to be careful. Without harming the giant python in any way, the duo safely caught the 13-foot long python. The villagers breathed a sigh of relief.

Forest officials Anil Bhagat and Gomase arranged for the snake to be released at a safe place. According to Rahul Kothekar, Secretary Ajay Mehrakule, President of Wild Challenger Organisation Sarp Mitra va Prani Mitra, currently paddy harvesting season is going on and naturally farmers and farm labourers are working in large numbers rather than fearlessly roam around in the farms, they should be rather careful in these circumstances. At this time, the snakes are often found in open bundles of grain meant for harvesting in a short span of time. If any unknown movement is felt in the place where the paddy is cut, then the paddy should not be lifted.

When snakes enter the stored paddy, the farmers should try to move the paddy with a stick rather than by bare limbs. When the farm labourers go to pick the paddy, they too should exercise adequate precautions so that no untoward incident takes place. Therefore in the aftermath of the incident, Forest Department Ramtek and Wild Challenger Organisation Ramtek Sarp Mitra va Prani Mitra have given relevant advice and briefed people about precautionary measures. In case a snake bite incident comes to light anywhere, one can immediately call any member of Wild Challenger Organisation Sarp Mitra va Prani Mitra office bearers and provide them the details immediately.
