Nagpur: Victims of Haris Rangoonwala in the alleged extortion and kidnapping case, on Monday met Minister Abdul Sattar seeking justice in the case.
Notably, following the extortion case, a fresh offence was registered at Sadar police station against Harish Rangoonwala for his alleged role in kidnapping an eight-year-old boy, extortion and others.
Rangoonwala, who is in police custody till January 25, was booked in the case following a complaint from 61-year-old Sayyed Azhar Ali. It’s learnt Rangoonwala had extorted around Rs 11.50 lakhs from Ali and also forcibly retained his electrical goods demanding more money.
During the dispute, Rangoonwala is learnt to have kidnapped Ali’s eight-year-old son Yusuf and allowed him to return only after his father coughed up Rs 5.50 lakhs.
In October 2020, Ali had erected a shop of electrical goods at Rangoonwala’s place at Chhaoni. He had also made him purchase electrical goods worth Rs 4.65 lakhs. Despite paying Rangoonwala in cash, he demanded more money to settle the bills.
After a year or so, Rangoonwala had forcibly locked the electrical shop demanding money from Ali to permit him to take the goods out.
The offence was registered at Sadar police station. Rangoonwala was arrested in the case.
