Some of the toughest government exams in India that are very hard to crack are:

UPSC Civil Services Exam

The UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE), also known as the UPSC exam or IAS exam, is a competitive exam administered by the  Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Through this exam, candidates are selected for India’s Civil Services, including the IAS, IPS, IFS, and other similar positions. It is considered to be the most challenging government exam to crack in India.

This exam comes with three levels: the preliminary exam, the main exam, and the interview or personality test. Candidates must put in a high level of dedication, effort, and hard work to pass this exam. Almost ten lakh candidates appear for this exam every year, but unfortunately, only a tiny fraction of 0.1 to 0.3 percent can succeed. In the recent events, the Ministry of Railways along with UPSC and DoPT has announced that recruitment to IRMS will be done through the Civil Services Examination which will be conducted by UPSC in 2023. Users can check PNR Status  for Indian Railways and other Indian Railways related news from the official website.

Reason For Being the Toughest

The comprehensive curriculum and the necessity to cover many other subjects make it a very challenging exam. Another reason for it being very tough is that huge masses appear for this exam. Also, the selection procedure for this exam is very stringent.

IIT-JEE

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) recruits students in top Engineering institutions. The two stages of the exam are IIT-JEE Mains and IIT-JEE Advanced. Students need to clear the IIT-JEE Mains to take the Advanced test. It is a complicated exam, and only the candidates with a high IQ score are likely to pass it.

Every year nearly 12 to 14 lakh students take the IIT-JEE Main exam, with only about 2.2 lakh qualifying for JEE-Advanced. However, only 11,000 students out of the qualified 2 lakh can make it to the country’s top engineering institutes.

The new JEE-Main 2019 amendments allow applicants to take the entrance exam twice in the same year. According to the authorities’ regulations, the best marks from the two exams will be used to rank students.

Reason For Being the Toughest

IIT-JEE is regarded as one of the most challenging exams because the syllabus is extensive and the exam questions are conceptual, designed to check student’s expertise in the main courses.

NEET UG

Though Government Jobs are the most favored among Indian youth, they are not that easy to get and require passing challenging exams. NEET-UG is regarded as one of India’s most competitive and challenging exams and is required for admission to medical institutions except AIIMS and JIPMER. National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET-UG) is thought to cover almost 54000 across the country.

To compete for the exam, the candidates should focus on physics, chemistry, and biology. Based on the latest data, a total of 15 lakh individuals applied for NEET, and over 17 lakh are expected to apply in 2021.

Reason For Being the Toughest

This exam is hard to crack because the material is extensive, and students should begin studying for it during their 12th grade if they wish to pass. To secure seats, candidates need to rank higher. With increasing competition, fewer allocations, and overall test stress,  the NEET exam has risen to the top of the list of India’s most difficult exams.

Chartered Accountant Exam (CA)

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, or ICAI, holds this exam, which is extremely hard to crack. Clearing the exam can lead to a rewarding profession with a handsome salary, but it requires a lot of hard work. Candidates who have a strong background in Maths and have taken Chartered Accountancy courses are likely to do well.

CA exam is taken in three phases: the Common Proficiency Test (CPT), Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC), and CA Final Examination. If a person gets through all of these tests, he becomes a certified Chartered Accountant, the most challenging accreditation in the country. Because of its level of difficulty, the exam’s success rate ranges from 8 to 16 percent.

Reason For Being the Toughest

This exam is very tough because the candidates have to clear all the stages to be accepted. The level of difficulty increases with every stage.

National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)

It is so tricky that various applicants fail to pass it even after their fourth or fifth attempts. The UGC NET is a national exam designed to identify applicants for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) positions at Indian universities and colleges. Candidates need to prepare for 83 subjects. There are a few seats for a large mass of students, thus increasing the competition to many folds. As a result, only 6 percent of candidates can pass the exam.

Furthermore, these successful candidates are subjected to a category-based reservation strategy, and institutions will choose the candidates based on these categories.

Reason For Being the Toughest

This exam is very challenging and tricky, and the students applying for it must have received at least 55 percent in their master’s degree examination (in any discipline). Moreover, the limited number of seats makes the competition even fierce.
