NMC school students mesmerise audience with dance performance saying ‘I am so happy’

Nagpur: Be it the first day of school or a self-presented art piece at the first annual gathering, the first experience is always unforgettable. Such an unforgettable moment was experienced by parents and children of six English medium schools run by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation. Little students danced to various songs saying ‘I am so happy’. The audience was mesmerized by the dance performance of the young students. Akanksha Foundation is assisting in the management of these schools.

Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Radhakrishnan B, former Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari, former Sports Committee Chairman Pramod Tabane, former Education Committee Chairman Dilip Dive, Municipal Education Officer Rajendra Pusekar, former Education Officer Preeti Mishrikotkar, Municipal Sports Officer Piyush Ambulkar, Manish Soni, Vinay Bagde, Chief Executive Officer of Akanksha Foundation Saurabh Taneja, Nagpur Director Somsurv Chatterjee, municipal officials, teachers of Akanksha, volunteers and thousands of parents were present.

Municipal Commissioner Radhakrishnan B while guiding the participants in the program said that in the six English medium schools run by the NMC in association with Akanksha Foundation, emphasis is placed on the holistic development of students. Municipal schools are not behind any private schools, where students are given free quality education along with training in sports, dance, drama etc.

He further said that municipal teachers also prepare students for their future by identifying their latent qualities, interests. Radhakrishnan B advised parents not to compare their children with others, encouraging every student to have their own interests, talents. Valuable advice given to students is to cultivate their art. Apart from this, currently KG 1, KG 2 in English medium and this year class 1 have also been started in the municipal school, and the municipal administration intends to gradually increase the classes, he said.

On this occasion, former Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari while guiding the parents said that in the English schools of the municipality, parents are also counselled along with the students. By recognizing the talents of the students and developing them, making them good citizens and dedicating them to the society, the municipal schools are doing an important task, Tiwari said.

Chief Executive Officer of Akanksha Foundation Saurabh Taneja gave information about various schools across the state run by Akanksha Foundation. Director of Akanksha Foundation, Nagpur, Somsurva Chatterjee gave information about the academic work of one thousand students in all the six schools.

The dignitaries were first welcomed by the students in the anniversary program. Later, the students of Rambhau Mhalginagar Municipal English Primary School presented a dance performance on the song ‘I am so happy’. They mesmerized the audience by performing dances on the songs ‘Itti Si Hansi’, ‘Me Hai Koli Sorilya Doli Na Mumbaiche Kinari’. The students of Late Baburao Bobde Municipal English Primary School, Babhulban Municipal English Primary School, Ramnagar Municipal English Primary School, Gopalraoji Motghare (Khadan) Municipal English Primary School, Rani Durgavati Municipal English Primary School won the hearts of the audience by performing dance, drama and song. Seeing their little ones on the stage for the first time, the parents shed tears of joy. The entire Suresh Bhat auditorium was resounding with the thunderous applause of the audience, boosting the enthusiasm of the young students.
