Nagpur/Amravati: Two Nagpur-bound persons were killed while two others sustained severe injuries in a car accident on Samruddhi Mahamarg near Pimpalgaon Bahnai village in Nandgaon Khandeshwar tehsil near Amravati on Wednesday evening.
They all were residents of Mumbai and were heading towards Nagpur for Vajramuth rally of Maha Vikas Aghadi scheduled on April 16.
Deceased Raju Shinde (62), Atul Tawade (60), both from Dahisar in Mumbai along with injured Balkrushna Dhabale and Prahesh Patil were heading towards Nagpur from Mumbai via Samruddhi Mahamarg in a car (MH-27-BB6574) on Wednesday evening. When the speeding car reached near Pimpalgaon Bahnai village, the driver of the car Kishor Anant Mhatre lost control over the vehicle and it hit a roadside iron fence. The impact of the dash was so strong that Raju Shinde and Atul Tawade died on the spot while Balkrushna Dhabale and Prahesh Patil sustained severe injuries. Driver Kishor Anant Mhatre sustained minor injuries.
Teams of Mangrul Chawhala Police and Highway Police reached the spot and rushed the injured to Amravati. It took hard efforts on part of the police to remove the badly stuck dead bodies from the car. One of the injured is undergoing treatment in Amravati at District General Hospital while another is at a private hospital in Amravati. Mangrul Chawhala police have registered the case.
