Sub-adult tiger dies after fight with another in Chikhaldara forest

Nagpur: The range of wild animals has increased in Chikhaldara forest area. This leads to frequent fights between the animals. An incident in which one died in a fight between two tigers took place on Saturday, April 29th at around 5 pm in Pachamba beat of Vairat circle.

Sumanth Solanke, Conservator of Forests, Gugamal Wildlife Division, Assistant Conservator of Forests, Chikhaldara, Forest Range Officer Dr. Mayur Bhailume carried out inspection in the presence of NTCA and representatives working in wildlife sector Rakesh Mahalle, Alkesh Thakre, Forester Sawle, and Forest Guard Shanware.

At this time the veterinary officer Dr. Dhandar was also called to the spot. Forest Department officials inspected the area and conducted a panchnama. In the examination of the veterinary authorities, all the organs of the dead tiger including teeth, claws, whiskers and other parts are intact. At first glance, the teeth marks of another tiger were seen on the neck of the tiger. Injuries were seen in many places. He said that according to the examination of the veterinary officials, one of the tigers died in a fight. The forest officials also checked the camera trap around the incident. A detailed report in this regard has been sent to the seniors.

After the post-mortem, the dead tiger, as per NTCA’s instructions, was handed over to the Conservator of Forests, Gugamal Wildlife Division, Sumant Solanke, Divisional Forest Officer of Melghat Tiger Project, Manoj Khairnar, Indrajit Nikam, Kamlesh Patil, Dr. Mayur Bhailume, NTCA and Wildlife Expert Representative Rakesh Mahalle, Alkesh Thackeray, Jaideep Patil, Forester Shri. Kalaskar. Later the tiger carcass was consigned to flames.

Post-mortem was conducted in the presence of veterinary surgeons. The post-mortem report stated that the sub-adult tiger died of internal bleeding after being attacked by the full-grown tiger after a fight between them. The age of the dead tiger should be approximately four to five years. Such fights occur between two tigers either because of hunting of wild animals or when another tiger comes into the tiger’s territorial area.
