Nagpur: MIDC Police have arrested a 35-year-old hotel owner for allegedly sexually assaulting a 20-year-old engineering student. Based on the complaint lodged by the victim, cops have arrested Nilesh Pandhari Kalambe. The incident has sent shockwaves through the Second Capital of the State, raising concerns about the safety and security of young women.
According to the victim’s harrowing complaint, she had been a regular visitor to Nilesh’s hotel, where she would often stop to have tea. Over time, Nilesh began engaging her in conversation, eventually manipulating her into a relationship and making promises of marriage. However, instead of fulfilling his vows, he subjected her to a brutal act of rape and captured indecent photographs of her without her consent.
When the victim, driven by her desire for marriage, confronted Nilesh with the proposal, he callously rejected her and resorted to threatening her. He warned that he would publicly shame her by circulating the explicit images if she dared to disclose the incident to anyone.
Summoning immense courage, the victim decided to break her silence and lodged a complaint with the MIDC police. Acting promptly, the police registered a case against Nilesh under multiple sections, including 376 (2) (n) (punishment for rape), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
