Nagpur: On the occasion of Martyrdom Day of Shri Guru Arjan Devji Maharaj various religious programmes were organised by Shri Kalgidhar Satsang Mandal, Jaripatka, Nagpur on Tuesday, May 23.
The programme started at 2 p.m with path of Panch Shri Japuji Sahib followed by Shri Sukhmani Sahib written by Guru Arjan Devji Maharaj was chanted by the thousands of devotees in one and single voice. Kirtan and Gurbani Pravachan on the life of Shri Guru Arjan Devji Maharaj was also done by various Ragis. The devotees also chanted the slogan “Wahuguru Arjan Devji Dhan Guru Arjan Devji.”
Adv. Mamtani explaining about martyrdom of Shri Guru Arjan Devji told the gathering that respecting the verdict of Sangat Guruji refused to accept the relationship of Proudy Chandumal’s daughter with His son Shri Har Gobind who in future become the Sixth Guru of Sikh Panth. Chandumal felt insulted and gave various punishments in prison. When all these did not yield any fruits Chandumal decided to cover Guruji’s body with a fresh cow skin. Guruji knew that his last time has come and it would be better to sacrifice and save cow slaughter. Guruji left for heavenly above by his spiritual power with instructions to float his body in Ravi River.
Adv. Mamtani explained the devotees that all the Avtars, i.e. Lord Ramchandra/Lord Krishna/Shri Guru Nanak Devji, were against cow slaughter. It is worthwhile to mention that Shri Guru Nanak Devji travelled throught the world just as India, China, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Arab Countries, Makka Madina etc. etc. and explained the correct concept of religion, PAP and PUNYA and various Gurudwaras are established in those cities as a mark of respect and people of all sects have accepted His religious propositions.
Once upon a time Shri Guru Nanak Devji reached Lahore. There Guruji saw cow slaughter and Guruji cursed “Lahore Shahar Jahar Kahar Sawa Pahar” (Shri Guru Granth Saheb Page No.1412) i.e. in Lahore city there will be arson, loot, violence for 3¾ hours which actually happened. Therefore eating of beef by various sects requires reconsideration i.e. total ban.
Similarly Shri Guru Hargobind Saheb the Sixth Guru of Sikh Panth was also against cow slaughter. When Guruji reached a village by name “Chhapre” Guruji was told that some people were killing the cows. Guruji felt very much angry and killed cow killers and protected the cows.
Adv. Mamtani in his discourse explained that Hindu Dharam and various religions encourage protection and maintenance of Cow. Holy Quran Sharif (16-66) also states that among the four feeters cow gives us Gobar and from her blood she gives us Milk which we drink. According to shastras Cow is a sacred animal and who feeds milk from her breast is just like our mother. Therefore cow is our deemed mother and it is a heinous crime to kill a mother.
Bhai Gurdas in Var 1, Paudi 20th has also correctly stated that killing of a cow is sin “Marani Gau Garib No Dharti Upari Papu Bithara”. It is therefore the paramount duty of every Gursikh to play active role in protecting/maintaining cows and bring cow slaughter to an end i.e. by serving the sick/old cows/cows which do not give milk etc.etc. either individually or through the Gorakshan Sansthans which are engaged in this type of work either financially or by supply of requisite material. This amount should be spent from the 1/10th of the Guru Sikh’s income.
The programme was concluded with Aarti, Stuti of Maa Bhagvati, and Eleven Gurus, Ardas and Distribution of Prasad. Massaledar Channa and Meetha Jal were distributed amongst the devotees from the beginning till end.
According to Convenor Adv. Madhavdas Mamtani this is the 53rd year of Mandal celebrating the Shahidi Guru Purab of Shri Guru Arjan Devji Maharaj. About fifteen thousand devotees participated in the Shahidi Guru Purab.
