Mumbai: The Maharashtra Legislative Assembly has been adjourned for the day on Monday after paying tribute to the deceased members of the Parliament and Legislature. The monsoon session of Maharashtra’s Legislative Assembly and Council kicked off on Monday, July 17 with a protest.
The session began with protest by Maha Vikas Aghadi partners Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT) who raised slogans against the incumbent ‘Maha Yuti’ Government.
The Opposition members stood on the stairwell of the legislature building Vidhan Bhavan and raised slogans against the incumbent government. The MLAs present at the protest were from Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT).
The Maharashtra Government moved a proposal for supplementary demands worth Rs 41,243 crore on the first day of the monsoon session of the State Legislature. The monsoon session began on Monday, July 17. The session started off with a protest on the stairwell by the Maha Vikas Aghadi leaders and was later adjourned for the day after a condolence motion was passed.
According to the information received, both houses were adjourned after tabling ordinances, supplementary demands.
Many raised eyebrows since no leader from Sharad Pawar’s faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) was spotted at the demonstration. They had claimed that they have strength of 19 MLAs, moreover his nephew Ajit Pawar and other leaders who backed Pawar Jr met with him on Sunday.
