Nagpur: The Nagpur Division of Central Railway will spend over Rs 372 crore to develop 15 stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
The 15 stations include Ghoradongri, Betul, Amla, Junnardeo, Multai, Pandhurna, Narkhed, Katol, Godhni, Sevagram, Pulgaon, Dhamangaon, Hinganghat and Chandrapur. The project also includes installing a lift at Parasia station.
Addressing media persons on Thursday, DRM Tushar Kant Pandey and Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (SrDCM) Ashutosh Shrivastava said the scope of works will include waiting halls, clean toilets, parking, landscaping and horticulture, garden décor, boundary wall in yard, entrance porches, facade, and elevations, mural wall painting among a host of other works.
The scheme also includes the redevelopment of 15 stations under the SECR Nagpur Division.
These stations include Gondia, Wadsa, Chanda Fort, Itwari, Kamptee, Chanda Fort, Bhandara, Tumsar, Dongargarh, Rajnandgaon, Nainpur, Mandla Fort, Seoni, Amgaon, and Chhindwara.
The focus of the development will be on augmentation of passenger amenities such as provision of additional foot-overbridges, creating passenger lounges and several such facilities.
Prior to Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the Railway Board had floated Adarsh Station Scheme, which also aimed at improving passenger amenities. Such schemes ensure that smaller stations too get substantial funds, which enables the stations to roll out additional features drawing good passenger feedback about the Railways.
