Nagpur: Janmashtami, the celebration of Lord Krishna’s birth, was celebrated with great religious enthusiasm across Nagpur on Thursday. One of the highlight events of the day was the ‘Dahi Handi’ competition organized by the Itwara Navyuvak Mandal in Nagpur.

The competition saw numerous teams vying for the coveted ‘pot’ that hung high above the ground, symbolizing Lord Krishna’s love for butter. Participants, known as ‘Govindas,’ demonstrated their skill and determination to break the ‘Dahi Handi’ and claim the prize.

In an intense and thrilling competition, it was the ‘Govindas’ from Shitalamata Mandir, Sonzhari, who emerged victorious by successfully breaking the ‘Dahi Handi.’ Their remarkable feat earned them the prestigious first prize of Rs 1.11 lakh.
