Nagpur: A sub-adult tiger was found electrocuted in a farm in Sindewahi Tehsil of Chandrapur district on Thursday. A villager has been arrested in this connection.
According to the reports, a sub-adult tiger was found dead in the farm of Vaishani Nikore in Sindewahi. On getting information, Forest team reached the spot along with Yash Kairkar of Swab Nature Care Foundation, Bandu Dhotre, NTCA Representative, Vivek Karambakar, Honorary Wildlife Conservator, Brahmapuri, and Pankaj Makode from Nature Environment and Wildlife Organisation, Brahmapuri.
After conducting a spot panchanama, the carcass was sent to the depot of Sindewahi Forest Department for post-mortem. The autopsy was done by Dr Ravikant Khobragade, Veterinary Officer, Tadoba, Dr Shalini Londhe, Livestock Development Officer, Sindewahi, and Dr Surpam, Veterinary Officer, Sindewahi.
The dead tiger was a male and was aged around 1.5-2.5 years. It had died due to electrocution after coming into contact with a live wire fence around the farm. While one person has been arrested so far, more arrests are likely to take place in this connection, said a senior officer.
