Burglar steals service revolver, ammo from SRPF Commandant’s Guard Quarters in Nagpur

Nagpur: In a startling incident, a burglar made off with a 9mm Glock pistol and 30 rounds of ammunition that belonged to Naik police constable Manguesh Lanjewar, the security guard and gunman for Priyanka Naranware, Commandant of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) Group 4 in Nagpur.

The burglary took place between Sunday night and Monday morning at Lanjewar’s quarters in the SRPF Camp on Hingna Road. Lanjewar, who was on duty at the Commandant’s home during the night, had taken a day’s rest and gone with his family to a village in Bhandara district.

Before leaving, he secured his gun and cartridges in a cupboard at his residence. Upon returning on December 26 at 6:30 am, Lanjewar discovered the lock of his house broken and realized that the service revolver and cartridges were missing. Acting promptly, he reported the incident to the MIDC police station, leading to the registration of a burglary case.

DCP Anurag Jain, MIDC police station PI Bhima Narke, API Prashant Sable, and PSI Prakash Chandewar visited the crime scene, conducting a thorough panchnama. Law enforcement also employed a sniffer dog to aid in the investigation.

The MIDC police have initiated a comprehensive inquiry to apprehend the burglar and recover the stolen firearm and ammunition.
