Last year, on November 20, the group had previously showcased their talent in Ayodhya, earning accolades for their performances across five significant locations in the town.

The group leader Pratik Tete expressed honour in representing Maharashtra’s traditional percussion style, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil. The performances aim to encapsulate the essence of celebration and cultural vibrancy through Maharashtra’s traditional folk music and dance.

The temple trust will provide accommodation and meals for the group during their stay in Ayodhya. However, the group will bear travel expenses. Departure from Nagpur is scheduled for January 23, with arrival in Ayodhya on January 24. Performances are slated for January 25, following which the group will depart post-darshan at the new temple.

The ‘Shiv Garjana Dhol Tasha Pathak’ plans to include conch (shankha), bells (ghanta), and a segment with young performers carrying saffron flags, promising an electrifying experience for attendees. Fresh rehearsals are set to commence after Makar Sankranti, preparing for an assortment of surprises and captivating presentations.

Founded in 2004, the ‘Shiv Garjana Dhol Tasha Pathak’ was established by a group of enthusiasts dedicated to preserving the dhol tasha tradition. The group has expanded over the years, encompassing members of diverse age groups and has performed at various prestigious events, including in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.

The essence of dhol tasha — a vibrant Marathi folk music and dance form — acts as a unifying force, celebrating victories and fostering community spirit. The ‘Shiv Garjana Dhol Tasha Pathak’ embraces the honour of representing Maharashtra’s cultural heritage and pledges to enrich the experience of the audience in Ayodhya.
