The farmers from Bhandara whose lands come under the Nagpur to Jharsuguda route have filed a petition in the High Court.

The petitioners contend that the compensation offered at present under the Petroleum and Minerals Pipeline Act of 1962 is too meagre. They have sought payout under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act of 2013.

The court has issued notices to the respondents which include GAIL and Union of India.
