Man held for attempting to kill sr citizen

Nagpur: Nandanwan Police apprehended a 40-year-old man, Rahul Tukaram Mankar, on charges of attempting to murder a senior citizen using a knife. The incident unfolded in Shesh Nagar, Kharbi, where Mankar, residing in the same neighborhood as Madhukar Motiram Bokde (60) of Plot No 74, Shesh Nagar, engaged in a heated dispute with 70-year-old Usha Rambhau Jaiswal, a neighbor, over a trivial matter.

During the altercation, as Mankar allegedly assaulted the septuagenarian Jaiswal, Bokde intervened to mediate and resolve the dispute. However, displeased with Bokde’s intervention, Mankar escalated the situation by brandishing a knife and attacking Bokde, inflicting serious injuries.

Bokde, suffering from deep wounds on his thigh, was promptly rushed to Integrity Hospital for medical attention. Subsequently, a complaint was lodged by Nikhil (31), the victim’s son, leading to the police initiating legal proceedings. The authorities have registered a case against Mankar under Sections 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of the Indian Penal Code, as per the complaint. Investigations into the matter are currently underway.
