Nagpur: In a promising development for Nagpur’s law enforcement, the newly appointed Commissioner of Police, Ravinder Singal, colloquially known as ‘Ironman’ due to his sporting achievements, has assumed office with a strong commitment to eradicating crime and apprehending gang members.
Taking over the reins from Joint CP Aswati Dorje on Thursday, Singal expressed his dedication to engaging the community in the fight against crime, emphasizing a combination of traditional policing methods and cutting-edge technological surveillance.
A known sports and fitness enthusiast, Singal outlined his comprehensive security strategy, pledging to encompass the entire society within its protective framework. With previous service in Nagpur, Singal brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He asserted that the safety of women and the elderly would be among his top priorities.
An officer of the Indian Police Service since 1996, Singal assumed the position of the 35th Commissioner of Police in Nagpur on Thursday night, succeeding Amitesh Kumar, who was transferred to Pune in a similar capacity. Before officially taking charge, Kumar handed over the responsibilities to Joint Commissioner of Police Aswati Dorje, who welcomed Dr. Singal with a floral bouquet during the evening handover ceremony. As the city’s new top cop, Singal’s arrival signals a renewed focus on community engagement and a determined effort to enhance public safety.
