Nagpur: Two young men lost their lives in two unrelated hit-n-run incidents within a span of an hour in the Second Capital.
In the first incident, a man was killed when his Maruti Omni van overturned after being hit by another four-wheeler from behind near Munje Chowk in Sitabuldi area Tuesday night. The driver of the unidentified four-wheeler sped away fearing arrest.

The deceased, Dharmendra alias Dhamma Ramesh Brahmne (27) was a resident of Mahal. Dharmendra and his friend Akshay Harishankar Barai (28) were going towards Sitabuldi from Munje Chowk in a Maruti Omni van (MH40/BE-8647) around 11.30 pm on Tuesday. Dharmendra was driving the van.
Suddenly, a speeding four-wheeler coming from Shani Mandir direction hit the van from behind. The van overturned, injuring Dharmendra seriously. He was rushed to Mayo Hospital but on the way, he succumbed to his injuries.
After recording the statement of Akshay, a resident of Brahma Nagar, Narsala Road, Dighori, Sitabuldi Police registered a case under Sections 279, 338, 304(A) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), read with Sections 134, 177 of the Motor Vehicle (MV) Act and started investigation to trace the ‘killer’ four-wheeler.
Similarly, in another incident, a 23-year-old Noel Avinash Pandit was killed after he was hit by an unidentified four-wheeler in Hudkeshwar area in the small hours on Wednesday.
A resident of Plot No 91, Ganga-Sona Apartment, Hudkeshwar, Noel was returning home on his Yamaha motorcycle (MH-35/B5299) around 12.30 am. A rashly-driven four-wheeler hit his motorbike and sped away. Noel fell off the motorcycle and received grievous injuries. He was rushed to Government Medical College & Hospital where the doctors declared him ‘brought dead’.
Following a complaint lodged by Sunil John Ramesh John (55), uncle of the deceased, Hudkeshwar Police registered a case under Sections 279, 304(A) of the IPC, read with Section 134, 177 of the MV Act and started the probe.
