The hospital, in collaboration with Tata Trust, continues its commitment to the cause with the renewal of their partnership.
Since March 2016, Tata Trust, one of India’s oldest philanthropic organizations, has been actively involved in funding Cochlear Implant Surgeries for underprivileged children through Orange City Hospital. Notably, Orange City Hospital stands as the sole healthcare institution in Central India associated with Tata Trust for this noble cause, having successfully performed 141 Cochlear Surgeries under the banner of “Project Geeta.”

“Freedom from Deafness,” the flagship movement initiated by Orange City Hospital, was aptly named “Project Geeta” after Smt. Geeta, the congenitally hearing-impaired sister of Shri. Udaybhaskar Nair, Chairman Emeritus. Driven by a deep sense of empathy and understanding, the newly appointed Chairperson, Dr. Vidya Nair, expressed her determination to continue the project. She stated, “Our family knows firsthand the challenges faced, and thus we can empathize. This project is close to my father, and it is an honor to continue working for the cause.”
The statistics reveal a pressing need, with approximately 4,797 hearing-impaired babies below the age in Vidarbha, requiring Cochlear Implant Surgery. Tata Trust and Orange City Hospital’s visionary partnership aims to empower these underprivileged children by facilitating life-changing Cochlear Implant surgeries at a subsidized cost.
Eminent Cochlear Implant Surgeons in Nagpur are volunteering their expertise as part of “Project Geeta” at Orange City Hospital. The proactive efforts of Team Orange include reaching out to Audiologists across Vidarbha to raise awareness within the community about this transformative initiative.
