Nagpur: Nagpur: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, women journalists of Nagpur were honored in a program jointly organized by Tilak Patrakar Bhawan Trust, Nagpur Labor Journalist Association and Press Club of Nagpur.
The program was presided over by Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Shomita Biswas. Senior Social Worker Advocate. V Chandra was awarded the Stree Gaurav Award. Also senior editor S.N. Vinod The ‘Shobha Vinod Memorial Women Journalist Award’ given in memory of his late wife Mrs.Shobha Vinod was awarded to senior journalist Varsha Basu this year. The award consisted of a medal and 21 thousand rupees.
This award is being given for the last five years. Till now, veteran journalists Sarita Kaushik, Kalpana Nalaskar, Rakhi Chavan have been honored with this award. Background behind Smt. Ed. Chandra reviewed the field of journalism in Nagpur and said that the present times are challenging for journalists. He urged women journalists to work more efficiently and maintain integrity in their work. He expressed confidence that women journalists can bring revolution in the country. In the presidential address, Shomita Biswas pointed out the discrepancies in the upbringing of children right from childhood and highlighted the need to change this situation.
