Nagpur: Tragedy struck the family of a six-year-old boy as he was electrocuted after coming into contact with a snapped live electric cable at an agricultural field near Juni Basti at village Bramhni in Kalmeshwar taluka of Nagpur district Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased, Chahal Ajay Bandhe was a resident of Ward No 3, Brahmni. Several trees were uprooted in Kalmeshwar taluka snapping power cables in the thunderstorm. One of the snapped live wires was lying in Ramchandra Chunarkar’s farm where Chahal and his friends were playing.
Around 3 pm on Tuesday, Chahal came in contact with the live wire and was electrocuted. His friends, who had a narrow escape, immediately informed Chahal’s parents about the incident. His parents and villagers rushed Chahal to Rural Hospital Kalmeshwar where the doctors declared him ‘brought dead.’
Chahal was the only child of his parents. His father works as a mechanic at an automobile shop. Pintu Nimbalkar, Police Patil of Brahmni, Gangadhar Nagpure, former Gram Panchayat member, Sunil Chunarkar, former municipal council members and villagers demanded a compensation of Rs 25 lakh to the boy’s parents from Maharashtra Electricity Distribution Company Limited.
Police Inspector Yogesh Kamale and staff of Kalmeshwar Police Station visited the spot. Police registered an accidental death case and started an investigation.
