Nagpur: It was a great honour and privilege for LAD College to have Padma Shri awardee Shital Mahajan, renowned for her accomplishments in skydiving and holding numerous world records, as the chief guest for the International Women’s Day celebration on March 12 in the Shankar Nagar Campus of the College.
Neerja Pathania, treasurer and the founding member of WANI, the Women Adventure Network of India was the guest of honour. Padma Shri Shital Mahajan acquainted students with the field of aero sports and career scope in Drone Piloting. She motivated students by saying Indian women can achieve anything in the world and informed that her next adventure will be to perform skydiving from the space.
She offered to conduct a special training camp of aero sports for students and staff members of LAD College.
Neerja Pathania, an alumna of the college, motivated students to keep working towards their goals. The entire event was organized under the guidance of Principal Dr. Pooja Pathak, Dr. Shyamala Nair, Secretary of W.E.S, Dr. Nanda Rathi Joint Secretray, Dr. Harsha Jharia, CAO, Vice Principals Dr. Kiran Patil and Dr. Rijuta Bapat, Registrar Deepika Reddiwar, students, teaching and non-teaching staff were present on the occasion.
Dr. Shilpa Sarode was the convener of the event. Dr. Varsha Bhujbal and Neelima Wagmare were the co-conveners. Mrunalini Thombre, Dr. Aboli Vyas, Dr. Dewashree Nagarkar, Dr. Sushma Funde and Dr. Sonal Dhabekar worked hard for the success of the event.
