Nagpur: In a heart-rending incident, a 2-year old boy died after a speeding motorcyclist hit him in the Gittikhadan area of Nagpur Wednesday evening. The biker sped away fearing public violence.
The deceased, Darshan Anand Ghogde (2) was a resident of Dashrath Nagar. Around 6 pm, Darshan was playing in front of his house. Suddenly, a youth riding a motorcycle (MH-31/FI 6392) at a high speed hit the toddler from behind injuring him seriously. Darshan was rushed to Mayo Hospital where the doctors declared him dead on admission.
Following a complaint lodged by Devendra Sewakram Ghogde (45), grandfather of the deceased, Gittikhadan Police registered a case of hit-and-run under Sections 279, 304(A) of the Indian Penal Code, read with Sections 134, 177 of the Motor Vehicle Act against the motorcyclist and launched a search for him.
Speeding vehicle knocks two-wheeler rider dead
A young man riding a motorcycle died after he was knocked down by a speeding vehicle in a hit-and-run incident on Chichbhuvan bridge in Beltarodi Police Station area Wednesday night.
The deceased, Manishkumar Luvkumar Bhondekar (25), was a resident of New Shikshak Colony, Bhanegaon, Taluka Saoner. Manishkumar was coming towards Nagpur from Wardha direction on a Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle (MH-40/9316) around 10.15 pm on Wednesday. Suddenly, an unidentified speeding vehicle hit him on Chichbhuvan bridge. Manishkumar fell off the bike and suffered serious injuries. The driver of the vehicle sped away.
Manishkumar was rushed to All India Institute of Medical Sciences where he succumbed to his injuries. After recording the statement of Luvkumar Amarlal Bhondekar (50), father of the deceased, police registered a case under Sections 279, 337, 338, 304(A) of the Indian Penal Code, read with Sections 134, 177 of the Motor Vehicle Act, and started investigation.
