At 40.2 deg Celsius, Nagpur records highest temp this season

Nagpur: For the first time this season, the maximum temperature crossed 40 degrees Celsius in Nagpur when it touched 40.2 degrees Celsius on Thursday. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that dry weather will increase the maximum and minimum temperatures in coming days all over Vidarbha.

The regional met department has predicted spells of rain and gusty winds for the next two days, but as per the forecast the temperature is likely to be around 41 degrees Celsius till April 3.

On Thursday, Akola and Washim recorded the highest maximum temperature in the State at 42.6 degrees Celsius each. As per global weather website El Dorado, Akola was 10th hottest in the world with 42.6 degrees Celsius on Thursday.

Besides Nagpur, the met department has forecast rain accompanied with lightning and thunderstorm and gusty winds at isolated places in Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, and Wardha for Friday and Saturday. The maximum temperature in these districts is likely to be 43 degrees Celsius.

Vidarbha’s Amravati and Parbhani of Marathwada region were the second hottest places in Maharashtra at 41.6 degrees Celsius on Thursday. Bramhapuri (41.0 degrees Celsius), Chandrapur (41.2 degrees Celsius), Wardha (41.5 degrees Celsius), and Yavatmal (41.5 degrees Celsius) recorded the day temperature above 41 degrees.

Gadchiroli (38.6 degrees Celsius) and Gondia (39.5 degrees Celsius) recorded the maximum temperature below 40 degrees. Akola also recorded the hottest night on Thursday as the district witnessed 26.0 degrees Celsius minimum temperature. Amravati (24.3 degrees Celsius), Buldhana (24.6 degrees Celsius),Wardha (24.4 degrees Celsius),Washim (24.4 degrees Celsius) and Yavatmal (24.0 degrees Celsius) were above 24 degrees. The minimum temperature of Nagpur was 22.4 degrees Celsius which was 1 degree above normal.
