Nagpur: The disqualified Congress party’s candidate from Ramtek Lok Sabha seat Rashmi Barve said that she will now approach the Supreme Court for restoration of her nomination from Ramtek constituency as the Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court has stayed the impugned order of cancellation of her caste claim.
Interacting with media persons in Nagpur at the Press Club after the court granted an interim stay to the cancellation of the caste certificate, Barve said that the judicial order passed in her favour proved that the state government agencies had acted against her in unison. “The BJP leaders were scared after the announcement of my candidature from Ramtek Lok Sabha constituency. Therefore, they conspired against me and pulled me out of the poll battle,” Barve alleged.
“Those who are shouting the slogan ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ are scared of me. I have full faith in the judiciary and will now knock the doors of the Supreme Court for restoration of her nomination from Ramtek constituency as the Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court has stayed the impugned order of cancellation of her caste claim,” she declared.
“The BJP is so scared of me and the Congress party that they have changed their sitting MP and now the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is coming for a rally in Ramtek on April 8,” Barve claimed.
When pointed out that an Independent MLA Ashish Jaiswal had alleged that Barve was not native of Maharashtra, her birth place was in Madhya Pradesh and she produced false documents before the caste validity committee, Barve said that Jaiswal should prove that my birth place was in MP. “If he proves it, I will quit politics and conversely, if he cannot prove it, then he should leave politics” Barve challenged Ramtek MLA Ashish Jaiswal.
Barve alleged that Sunil Salve, who had filed the complaint against her with the caste scrutiny committee, was just a face in the conspiracy while the senior BJP leaders forced the government machinery’s stand.
“The court order proves that my caste certificate was genuine at the time of filling the nomination papers, therefore I will knock on the doors of the apex court to restore my candidature,” she said.
Congress leader Prafulla Gudadhe Patil and Adv Shailesh Narnavre were present on the occasion.
