Nagpur: In the coming Lok Sabha general elections, the housing society that achieves the highest voter turnout will be honoured with an award. The Nagpur Municipal Corporation and the Nagpur District Election Office have organized a special competition for housing societies. As part of this competition, on Monday, residents representing the society gathered at Kavi Suresh Bhat auditorium to take an oath to vote.
In this context, Election Nodal Officer and Deputy Municipal Commissioner Dr. Ranjana Lad, Deputy Commissioners Milind Meshram, Assistant Commissioners Prakash Varade, Mahesh Dhamecha, Ganesh Rathod, Pramod Wanekar, Sports Officer Dr. Piyush Ambulkar, and Public Relations Officer Manish Soni were present.
During the meeting organized at Suresh Bhat Audotorium, Mahesh Dhamecha administered the oath to vote. They emphasized increasing the voter turnout in Nagpur city compared to the elections in 2019. They also encouraged people to use the Voter Searching app to find their names in the voter list and locate polling booths, and to send their full name and address to 8600004746 via WhatsApp.
Under the guidance of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation and the Nagpur District Election Office, three categories of housing societies — flats, apartments, and housing societies — are participating in the voter competition. The competition is divided into three groups based on family size: societies with up to 50 families, societies with more than 50 families, and societies with more than 100 families. It is mandatory for every eligible voter listed in the society to cast their vote. The society with the highest voter turnout will be awarded a memento.
To register for the competition, Google links and QR codes have been prepared by the Municipal Corporation and the District Election Office. In case of any difficulties during registration, they can be emailed to sveepngp2024@gmail.com. The deadline for the competition is April 21, and it is encouraged for as many societies as possible to participate, as announced by the Municipal Corporation and the district administration.
