Fact Check: ‘Ink Thrown at EVM’ Video from Thane circulated as from Nagpur during 2024 Lok Sabha Polls!

Nagpur: A video clip from Thane during the 2019 elections, depicting a man throwing ink on an EVM, was reportedly shared on social media platforms claiming it to be from North Nagpur during the ongoing 2024 Lok Sabha Polls.

However, upon investigation by Nagpur Today, the true story behind the video came to light.

During the 2019 voting in Thane, Bahujan Samaj Party leader Sunil Khambe opposed the process of conducting elections through EVMs and threw ink at an EVM inside a polling booth set up near Thane Civil Hospital. After throwing ink on the EVM, he shouted “EVM Murdabaad.”

The same video from 2019 was circulated, falsely claimed to be from North Nagpur during the current election.
