Nagpur: A young man lost his life while attempting to shield his mother from his intoxicated elder brother’s attack in Timki area under Tehsil Police Station late Sunday night.
The deceased has been identified as Gaurav Gokhe, a resident of Chimabaipeth area in Timki. He courageously intervened when his brother, Dilip Gokhe, attempted to assault their mother when she objected to his ruckus after drinking, police said.

According to police, Dilip (51) is addicted to liquor and he became violent upon returning home intoxicated on Sunday night. He verbally abused his mother, and when she resisted, he brandished a knife with intent to harm her. Gaurav rushed to her aid and attempted to restrain Dilip, but tragically, he sustained a fatal injury to his throat in the process, said police.
The neighbours intervened and alerted the Tehsil Police. Despite being rushed to Mayo Hospital by the police, Gaurav succumbed to his injuries. The police arrested Dilip on the charges of murder.
