Nagpur: Railway Protection Force (RPF), South East Central Railway, Nagpur Division, intercepted a consignment of ganja (marijuana) aboard the train number 22847 Visakhapatnam LTT Superfast Express.
According to RPF officials, during routine checks in the Darekasa-Salekasa section, PSI Vijay Bhalekar and his team discovered an unattended trolley bag near seats 63 and 64 of the B-2 coach. Upon investigation, none of the passengers claimed ownership of the suspicious bag. The RPF team, in collaboration with the Train Ticket Examiner (TTE), opened the bag to reveal seven packets wrapped in tape and suspected to contain ganja.
The contraband, weighing 13.446 kg with a current market value of Rs 2.68 lakh was secured and unloaded at the Gondia Railway Station. It was then handed over to RPF, for further processing.
Government Railway Police (GRP) Gondia registered a case under Section 8(c), 20(b)(ii)(B) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The action was carried out by PSIs Vijay Bhalekar, CKP Tembhurnikar, and staff including Dinesh Kumar Lilhare, Abha Tiwari, and Shivani Pawar, under the guidance of Divisional Security Commissioner Deep Chandra Arya.
