Nagpur: In a major crackdown on drug abuse in the Second Capital of the State, Tehsil Police arrested two men found in possession of MD drugs near Mayo Hospital early Thursday morning.
The suspects have been identified as Yogesh Gajananrao Khapare (25), a resident of Kararpura, Itwari, and Akshay Bandu Wanjari (25), a resident of Bagadganj, Nandanvan.
According to police sources, the Tehsil Police squad was patrolling on the night between Wednesday and Thursday. At around 1 am, officers noticed the suspicious behavior of two young men near Mayo Hospital. Upon inspection, they discovered that Yogesh and Akshay were hiding MD drugs in a ziplock plastic bag.
The police seized the drugs and took the suspects to Tehsil Police Station. Approximately 17 grams of MD drugs and other materials, with a total value of Rs 2.55 lakh, were confiscated.
A case was registered against the duo under Sections 8(C), 22(B), and 29 of the NDPS Act, based on a complaint by Police Amaldar Jitesh Rathod.
The arrest was made under the guidance of DCP Zone 3 and ACP Zone 3, with the efforts of Tehsil Senior Police Inspector Sandeep Buaa, Police Constable Sanjay Shahu, and others.
