Nagpur: Tragedy struck on Thursday as an explosion rocked the Chamunda Explosives facility in Waddhamna along the Nagpur-Amravati Road, claiming the lives of at least five individuals and leaving 8-10 others with severe burn injuries.
Among the deceased were identified Pranjali Modre (22), Prachi Phalke (20), Vaishali Kshirsagar (20), Monali Alone (27), and Pannalaal Bandewar (50). Additionally, Sheetal Charap (30), Dansa Maraskolhe (26), Pramod Chaware (25), and several others sustained serious injuries in the incident.
Reports indicate that the explosion occurred around noon, its deafening blast audible for kilometers around, while thick plumes of smoke billowed from the factory, visible from miles away.
Though the exact cause of the explosion remains uncertain, authorities from the Hingna Police and Fire and Emergency Department swiftly responded to the scene, initiating rescue operations without delay.
