Nagpur: Nandanvan Police have registered a case against five individuals, including three women, for allegedly deceiving multiple investors out of Rs 62.91 lakh under the guise of investments in a Bachat Gat and a cloth manufacturing company based in Kolhapur.
The accused are identified as Shweta Moreshwar Nimje (27), Kavita Hiresh Kavade (40), Kanchan Moreshwar Nimje (32), Siddhardh Chandrakant Thabare (35), and Hiresh Kavde (42), all residents of Nandanvan.
According to police sources, the complaint was filed by Yogesh Narendra Pasine (35), residing in Galli No. 3, Nandanvan Slums, and his wife Priyanka. They had become acquainted with the accused through a local Bachat Gat. Exploiting this relationship, the accused convinced the Pasine couple and other members of the Bachat Gat to invest a total of Rs 62.91 lakh in a Kolhapur-based cloth manufacturing company, promising substantial returns.
However, despite assurances, the accused neither provided any returns nor returned the invested capital, leaving the investors in financial distress. Subsequently, Pasine and others approached Nandanvan Police Station and lodged a formal complaint.
The police have registered a case under Sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating), and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC against the accused. Further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
