According to Jaripatka police, tensions escalated on Friday afternoon when Bunty returned home to find his brother Sushant entertaining friends. An argument ensued which led Bunty to grab a knife from the kitchen in anger. Sushant tried to flee. However, Prabhat and Meera (60) intervened. In a fit of rage, Bunty went on a rampage and broke household items, including the television. Prabhat allegedly caught hold of Bunty and pushed him down. He strangled Bunty while Meera restrained his legs.

The family initially mistook Bunty’s unconscious state for mere fainting and rushed him to Mayo Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The family members took Bunty’s body for the funeral. The case took a turn when suspicions arose among relatives during funeral preparations. One of them alerted the police.

The police rushed to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. The preliminary post-mortem report revealed Bunty’s cause of death as strangulation. As a result, the police took Prabhat and Meera for interrogation. During interrogation, they spilled the beans.

The police have registered a case under Sections 302 and 34 of Indian Penal Code and arrested Prabhat so far.
