Nagpur: Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the state-of-the-art ‘Command and Control Center’ in Nagpur on Wednesday, July 17. This center, established in collaboration with Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Limited and Nagpur Police, is regarded as the most advanced in the country.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the Police Control Room premises. It was attended by MLA Krishna Khopde, Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint Commissioner of Police Mrs. Ashwati Dorje, Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Dr. Abhijit Chaudhary, District Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar, and Chief Executive Officer of Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Limited Mrs. Anchal Goyal, among others. Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis cut the ribbon and unveiled the commemorative plaque to officially open the center.
During the event, Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis toured the ‘Command and Control Center’ and was briefed on its operations. In his speech, he emphasized the center’s role in enhancing police efficiency in crime control through advanced technology. The center integrates 3,600 CCTV cameras installed by Nagpur Smart City, along with 2,200 cameras from Metro, malls, and other locations, ensuring comprehensive surveillance across the city. He expressed confidence that no criminal activity would escape the vigilant eyes of Nagpur Police.
Fadnavis also highlighted the recent overhaul of colonial-era laws in India, promising faster justice for citizens and improved efficiency in police investigations.
The ‘Command and Control Center’ was developed entirely by Nagpur Smart and Sustainable Development Corporation Limited. Previously, city operations were managed jointly by the municipal corporation, police, and traffic police from the Atal Bihari Vajpayee City Operation Center at the municipal headquarters. Now, the new center will enable the police and traffic departments to independently manage crime and traffic control. Urban services and disaster management will continue to be overseen from the Atal Bihari Vajpayee City Operation Center.
Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal, in his opening remarks, shared that 26,000 traffic violations had been addressed and over 3,000 criminal incidents had been solved through the existing city operation center. The new ‘Command and Control Center’ will further enhance surveillance with mobile monitoring vehicles and drone cameras. Dr. Singal noted that advanced AI technology would even allow for criminal identification through voice analysis in cyber crimes.
During the ceremony, Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis also launched ‘SIMBA’ (System Integrated for Monitoring and Big Data Analytics App) and handed over recovered property to citizens affected by cyber and theft crimes. Additionally, the updated Nagpur Police website was unveiled.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Additional Police Commissioners Sanjay Patil, Pramod Shewale, Shivaji Rathod, Deputy Commissioner of Police Nimit Goyal, directors of Nagpur Smart City Anirudh Shenwai, Ashish Mukim, Neha Jha, Bhanupriya Thakur, Dr. Sheel Ghole, Rajesh Duppare, Rahul Pandey, and C.
