Nagpur: Anil Deshmukh, a leader of the Sharad Pawar faction of the Nationalist Congress Party and former Home Minister, has demanded the public release of the findings of the Justice Chandiwal Commission, which investigated the bribery allegations against him. Deshmukh made this demand during a press conference held in Nagpur.
Speaking to the media, Deshmukh stated that making the report public would reveal the truth about the accusations against him. He also warned that he would approach the court if the report is not released.
Deshmukh claimed that the allegations of demanding a ₹100 crore bribe against him were based on reports with no supporting evidence, as stated by the Bombay High Court. He added that the Supreme Court upheld this order.
He accused the BJP of making false allegations against him because, as the Home Minister, he had taken action against then Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh, Sachin Waze, and other officers in connection with the Antilia bomb scare and Mansukh Hiren murder case. Deshmukh also claimed that he had sent a messenger with an affidavit after a senior opposition leader faced bribery allegations.
