Nagpur: Following orders from City Police Commissioner Dr. Ravindra Singhal, notorious criminal Faris Nizamuddin Qadri (25), a resident of Nal Sahib Chowk, Mominpura, has been subjected to action under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act (MPDA). He has been arrested and sent to jail.
Qadri, who presented himself as a self-proclaimed journalist, YouTuber, and social activist, had previously made calls to various businessmen, industrialists, and even several politicians. He recorded these calls and uploaded them to his YouTube account, subsequently using them to extort money through threats. Numerous cases of illegal extortion and ransom have been filed against Qadri in different police stations across the city.
Given his criminal record, the Tehsil Police, under the guidance of DCP Zone 3 Gaurakh Bhamre, proposed action against him under MPDA to the Crime Branch. Police Commissioner Dr. Singhal has issued orders to transfer Faris Qadri to the Kolhapur Kalamba Central Jail. He is currently being held at the Nagpur Central Jail.
