Nagpur: Former minister and suspended MLA Sunil Kedar has been ordered to present his defense within 15 days in the ₹150 crore Nagpur District Central Cooperative Bank (NDCCB) scam case.
Kedar had filed a petition in the High Court seeking a stay on his sentence, but the court rejected his plea. Following this, he approached the Supreme Court, where he faced further disappointment as his appeal was also dismissed.
In response, Kedar filed a petition against the court’s order with the Cooperation Ministry, which was heard today by Minister Dilip Walse Patil. During the hearing, the Ministry ordered Kedar to submit his written defense within 15 days.
Previously, the court found Sunil Kedar guilty in the NDCCB scam and sentenced him to five years in prison along with a fine of ₹12 lakh. The court also directed the recovery of ₹1,444 crore, including interest, from the accused as compensation for the ₹150 crore scam.
Kedar’s recent petition in the Cooperation Ministry was heard today, leading to the latest order requiring him to present his case within the stipulated timeframe.
