Nagpur: In India, August 15th is celebrated as Independence Day. This year, the country will mark its 78th Independence Day. On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the 112th edition of his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio program, urged the nation to celebrate this national festival under the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign. However, Congress MLA Vikas Thakre has opposed the Modi government’s initiative. Thakre stated that Nagpur needs ‘Har Ghar Fawarni’ (spraying) instead of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ (flag hoisting).
Nagpur Needs ‘Har Ghar Fawarni’ Instead of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’
The state’s second capital is currently grappling with diseases like Dengue and Chikungunya. The city’s health department has failed to control the spread of these diseases effectively. Thakre emphasized the need for the Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s health department to implement various measures to control the increasing spread of Dengue and Chikungunya in the city. He further added that to curb these life-threatening diseases, there is a greater need for ‘Har Ghar Fawarni’ instead of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’.
Inadequate Testing by the Municipal Corporation
Due to inadequate testing by the municipal corporation, patients are flocking to Mayo, Medical, and private hospitals. There are ongoing discussions that the data on these patients’ tests are not being disclosed. Meanwhile, the number of contagious disease patients in Mayo, Medical, and private hospitals has increased by one and a half times in the past month. Symptoms of Chikungunya and Dengue have been found in 70% of the suspected patients. These patients, after receiving treatment, are recovering. These patients suffer from ailments like cold, cough, fever, body ache, joint pain, fluctuating fever, gastro issues, etc.
