Nagpur: A clerk working at the Kuhi Court ended his life by jumping into Gorewada Lake in Nagpur. The clerk, identified as 42-year-old Nilesh Kate, was reported missing by his family when he did not return home after work. He was suffering from depression, which is believed to have driven him to take this drastic step. The police have registered a case of accidental death and have begun further investigations.
According to police reports, Nilesh Kate, who resided with his family in Borgao, Gorewada Road, had been employed at Kuhi Court for the past five years. Originally from Amravati, he had been trying unsuccessfully to get transferred to Nagpur. His repeated failures to secure the transfer left him depressed.
On Tuesday morning, Nilesh left home at 9 AM, purportedly to go to work, but he never arrived at the court. When he didn’t return home by the evening, his wife tried to contact him on his mobile, but it was switched off. The family then filed a missing person’s report at the Gittikhadan Police Station. Later, locals spotted a body floating in Gorewada Lake and informed the police, who recovered the body and identified it as Nilesh Kate.
The police have sent the body for post-mortem and are continuing their investigation into the incident.
