Nagpur: BJP Women’s Wing President Pragati Patil has accused the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) of exploiting the Badlapur incident for political gain, with the intent of disrupting the ‘Ladki Bahin’ scheme, which has received overwhelming support. Patil alleged that the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress, and the Sharad Pawar faction are fearful of the success of the scheme and are trying to create unrest in the state by calling for a Maharashtra bandh.

During a press conference, Patil questioned whether the social unrest and violence following Sharad Pawar’s comments predicting Maharashtra becoming like Manipur were coincidental or part of a planned strategy. She urged citizens not to fall prey to the MVA’s alleged tactics aimed at inciting violence.

Patil pointed out that while the state government is taking swift action in the Badlapur case, including the immediate arrest of the accused and the suspension of negligent police officers, the MVA is using the incident as a pretext to incite violence. She criticized the MVA for not condemning the recent assault on a woman doctor in Kolkata, contrasting it with the attention given to the Badlapur case.

In her speech, Patil also recounted several incidents of violence against women during the MVA’s previous tenure, including cases in Sambhajinagar, Hinganghat, and Dombivli, questioning why the BJP did not call for a bandh during those times. She accused the MVA of trying to derail the ‘Ladki Bahin’ scheme, citing the appearance of the scheme’s posters during the Badlapur protests as evidence of a deliberate attempt to undermine the initiative.

Patil vowed that the BJP would not allow the MVA’s alleged plans to succeed and reminded the public of the rise in crimes against women during the UPA government and MVA’s previous rule.
