Nagpur: Delhi Public School, Kamptee Road, Nagpur hosted the fourth edition of its annual LitFEST on August 31, 2024, bringing together young minds to celebrate the power of literature and language.*
“Literature is the art of discovering something extraordinary about ordinary people and saying with ordinary words something extraordinary.” These words by Boris Pasternak encapsulate the spirit of the DPS LitFEST 2024, a multilingual inter-school literary event held at Delhi Public School, Kamptee Road, Nagpur. The festival, now in its fourth year, brought together students from across Nagpur to engage in a vibrant celebration of languages, cultures, and youthful creativity.
This year’s event was a grand showcase of literary talent, offering a wide range of competitions in English, Hindi, Marathi, and Sanskrit. From creative writing in ‘The Ink Hand’ to the artistic expression of ‘Calli-Doscope,’ the evocative simplicity of ‘Haikiga,’ and the dramatic flair of ‘Scene Stealer,’ students had ample opportunities to display their literary prowess. The festival also highlighted the cultural richness of Maharashtra through competitions like ‘Powada,’ along with Hindi and Sanskrit poetry recitations and singing contests.
The day began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, symbolizing the illumination of knowledge and creativity. Esteemed Chief Guest Ms. Aasawari Shenolikar, Deputy Editor at *The Hitavada*, with over 33 years of journalistic experience, graced the occasion, lending it a touch of prestige. A distinguished panel of judges, including Sachin Jahagirdar, Founder Secretary of the Vidarbha Literary Festival, Dr. Parag Bhaskar Joshi, Professor at KKSU, and renowned theatre artist Mr. Anil Palkar, among others, were on hand to evaluate the competitions, ensuring a high standard of assessment.
Ms. Tulika Kedia, President and Pro-Vice Chairperson of Delhi Public School Kamptee Road and MIHAN, Nagpur, an ardent literature enthusiast, extended her best wishes to all participants. Ms. Savita Jaiswal, Director of the school, offered her blessings, while Principal Ms. Yogeeta Umalkar welcomed the gathering, setting the tone for a successful event.
The festival also featured a vibrant Maharashtrian folk dance, celebrating the state’s rich cultural heritage, and a multilingual choir performance that harmonized the diversity of the languages featured in the event. As the day came to a close, the results were announced, celebrating the achievements of the winners.
DPS LitFEST 2024 was a resounding success, providing a platform for students to come together, explore the beauty of words, and nurture a lifelong love for literature.
