Teenage boy killed as Army vehicle hits bike in Kamptee

Nagpur: In a tragic incident, an 18-year-old boy riding pillion on his friend’s two-wheeler lost his life after being hit by a military Quick Reaction Team (QRT) vehicle at Taof Chowk in the Army Cantonment area in Kamptee on Wednesday night.

The deceased, identified as Kunal Nanda Kulsunge, a resident of Ward No 1, Gora Bazar, Kotha, Kamptee, was riding with his friend on a two-wheeler (MH-31/DR-3920) around 8 pm when the incident occurred.

According to reports, a speeding Army QRT vehicle struck the two-wheeler, causing Kunal to fall off and sustain fatal head injuries. Following the incident, Kunal’s father, Nanda Chhotelal Kulsunge (55), filed a complaint with the Old Kamptee Police Station. Subsequently, a case has been registered against the driver of the QRT vehicle under Sections 281, 125, and 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Police authorities are currently conducting further investigations into the matter. The mishap has left the local residents in shock, raising concerns over road safety in and around the Kamptee Cantonment area.

Senior citizen killed in road mishap

An accident claimed the life of a senior citizen, Vasant Shrawanji Gedamkar (78), near Meshram Statue in the Sadar area on Thursday morning.

Gedamkar, a resident of 235, Kunbi Mohalla, Jaripatka, was on his way to a medical store near Seminary Hills when the incident occurred. He lost control of his scooter and fell off after being hit by a two-wheeler. A Tata Harrier SUV (MH31/FU-8954) coming from behind ran over him, leaving him severely injured. Bystanders immediately rushed Gedamkar to Shantimohan Hospital, but despite their efforts, he succumbed.
