Car jumps off road divider, hits MSRTC bus: 1 killed, 13 injured

Nagpur: A man was killed and 13 passengers of an MSRTC bus were injured when a speeding car collided head-on with the bus after jumping the road divider at the Satgaon turning in the Butibori police station area near Nagpur.

According to the police, the accident occurred on Tuesday at 4 p.m. while the bus was crossing the Satgaon turning. The speeding car (MH-40/CQ 4968) was coming from the opposite direction when the driver lost control, hit the road divider, and then crashed into the bus head-on. Along with the bus driver, 13 passengers were injured in the accident. Car driver Mukesh Kubersing Sharma (40) was killed in the crash.

The bus driver, Nandkishore Dhnyaneshwar Lokhande, a resident of Yavatmal district, and 13 passengers were injured. A case under the provisions of BNS and MVA has been registered by the Butibori police.

Two killed in separate mishaps

Two persons were killed in separate road mishaps in the Butibori Police Station area. In the first case, a man died after his speeding motorcycle collided with another motorcycle near the Reliance Petrol Pump at Bothali village on Tuesday evening. The deceased has not yet been identified.

In another accident, a motorcyclist was killed when his two-wheeler was hit by an unidentified vehicle on the Chandrapur-Nagpur Road. The deceased has been identified as Vasanta Mate, who was employed at Chimnazari Ashram School, according to the police.

Herdsman killed as tree branch falls on him

A 76-year-old herdsman died of head injuries when a tree branch fell on him in the Hingna area on Wednesday. The deceased, identified as Ashok Pundlikrao Rode, was a resident of Ward No 1, village Metaumari.

The incident occurred around 1 pm when Rode had taken his goats for grazing near White Gold Ginning Company, located on Mohgaon Road. While plucking leaves from a roadside Mahua tree, a heavy branch suddenly broke off and struck him on the head, causing serious injuries. Local residents immediately rushed Rode to the Rural Hospital, Hingna, in an unconscious state, but he succumbed to his injuries on the way.

Hingna Police registered a case of accidental death and initiated an investigation into the incident.
