Nagpur: A criminal was brutally murdered by rival gang members in Nandanvan Police Station area of Nagpur on Sunday afternoon. The assailants surrounded the victim and smashed his head with a boulder in full public view. Four accused have been arrested in this connection.
The deceased has been identified as Vikesh Sukhdev Jadhav (38), a resident of Bhim Chowk, Hiwari Nagar.

The arrested accused include Nikhil alias Damba Manohar Wasnik (24), a resident of Padole Nagar slum; Bhola Ganesh Ingle, a resident of Kumbhar Toli; Prabhakar Gopal Chaudhary, a resident of Bhandewadi and Akash Nagarikar, a resident of Nageshwar Nagar.
Several serious cases including murder, assault and robbery were registered against the deceased Vikesh. He had an old enmity with Nikhil, according to police. The police said that there was a dispute between the two over establishing their dominance in the area. Nikhil is also a history-sheeter with cases of assaults, robbery, Arms Act are registered against him.
In July 2021, he was detained under Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act. After staying in jail for a year, he restarted criminal activities in the Nandanvan area. Vikesh was friend with the youths of Padole Nagar slum and used to visit the slum to meet them. Due to his constant visit in the slums, a rivalry increased between the two.
On the morning of August 13, Nikhil was going to Hiwari Nagar with his friend. Vikesh blocked his way and assaulted him by attacking him with a sharp weapon. Nandanvan Police had registered a case against Vikesh. Since then Nikhil was trying to settle the scores with Vikeash.
On Sunday, September 15, afternoon at 3 pm, Vikesh had gone to meet his friend in Padole Nagar slum and came face to face with Nikhil. Nikhil and his accomplices surrounded Vikesh and attacked him with sharp-weapons. Vikesh fell on the ground in the pool of blood. Meanwhile, Nikhil picked up a boulder and slammed it on Vikesh’s head. Vikesh died on the spot. On getting information about the incident, Nandanvan Police rushed to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.
The police have registered a case of murder against the four accused.
