Nagpur: In a recent development, the city police have cracked down on a group of youngsters who have been disturbing the peace with their modified motorcycles fitted with loud silencers. This group had been causing disturbances in the city for several days.
Following complaints received via social media, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Archit Chandak, issued strict orders to take action. Subsequently, the police successfully apprehended the group responsible for the disturbances.
DCP Chandak mentioned that this group of youths regularly rode Bullet bikes with modified silencers, resulting in not only loud noises but also instances of them bursting firecrackers on the streets.
The complaint gained traction on Instagram, prompting the First MNC Zone to take immediate action. Upon investigation, it was revealed that these youths were active across different areas, necessitating coordinated efforts among multiple zones.
DCP Chandak clarified that the number plates of the vehicles were not visible in the videos. After apprehending one youth, their social media account led to further breakthroughs.
These youths had created accounts on Instagram, where they had posted 50 to 60 videos. The police identified each youth and seized 15 Bullet bikes, all equipped with modified silencers. Notably, none of the videos showed any of the youths wearing helmets, leading to additional charges of reckless driving under various sections of motor vehicle laws.
